IEC 60335-2-40 was approved at the end of April and is expected to be published by the end of June. This standard also applies to electric heat pumps, air conditioners and room dehumidifiers that contain flammable refrigerants. It takes into account refrigerants corresponding to class A2 or A3 according to ANSI/ASHRAE 34-2001 (ISO 817). Among other things, this has an impact on refrigerant quantities: for example, the limit for propane (R290) has been raised from 340 g to 988 g for a standard split system.
